Sciaccarellu

Originating from Ajaccio and Sartène, where it is usually used as a single variety, Sciaccarellu has now crossed the island and found itself almost indispensable, particularly for blended wines.

Its name, derived from the prefix ‘sciacca’’, evokes the crunchy nature of the grapes, whose skin starts to whither when they reach maturity. This variety is also important as it is highly resistant to diseases.
The red wines, medium red in colour with a light and elegant structure, are fine and well built. They have powerful aromas (pepper, cassis, cherry, liquorice, smoke, cinnamon, leather, raspberries, orange, caramel). Blended with other varieties, it can make seductive rosé wines with an incredible aromatic bouquet (red fruit, exotic fruit, flowers, spices).
